    Plaquenil brand name vs generic

It may have both an anti-spirochaete activity and an anti-inflammatory activity, similar to the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. And caution is required if patients have certain heart conditions, diabetes, psoriasis etc.

An amount of 600 mg of hydroxychloroquine brand name Plaquenil was administered to these patients every day for 10 days. They reported "a significant decrease in viral load". The drug appeared to be responsible for a "rapid and effective speeding up of their healing process, and a sharp decrease in the amount of time they remained contagious". I was taken the name brand for about 1 year. Then my insurance only paid for the generic brand. I haven't really noticed to much of a difference. I still get a stomach ache after taking it right after a full meal. But I was getting a metalic taste in my mouth. I don't know if it is coated as well as the name brand as someone else has mentioned. PLAQUENIL brand-name is fantastic, however the generic Hydroxychloroquine is awful! I took brand-name for 2 years and my SLE was well-managed and I wasn’t having side effects. Then the brand name was switched by my pharmacy to the generic hydroxychloroquine and it was one of the worst experiences.

The most serious adverse effects affect the eye, with dose-related retinopathy as a concern even after hydroxychloroquine use is discontinued. The most common adverse effects are a mild nausea and occasional stomach cramps with mild diarrhea.

  5. I have been taking brand name Plaquenil for nearly 2 years and it has done a great job keeping my RA under control, that is until last week. The druggest didn't have any brand name Plaquenil so substituted the generic, within several days I started having flare-up symptoms - stiffness, pain, exhaustion, etc etc.
